Overview
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a research and development center. JPL is responsible for managing the NASA Deep Space Network (DSN), a system of antennas and transceivers that communicate with spacecraft and track their movements. JPL operates the NASA Deep Space Network's three main facilities, located in Goldstone, California; Madrid, Spain; and Canberra, Australia. JPL has a long history of collaboration with other organizations and institutions, including Caltech, NASA, and the European Space Agency. JPL's work has led to numerous spin-off technologies, including GPS, memory foam, and water purification systems.
