Overview
Rachel Carson developed a deep love for nature and the ocean from an early age. She pursued her passion for marine biology at the Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University) and later at Johns Hopkins University. Carson's early career as an aquatic biologist in the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries laid the foundation for her future work. Her writing career spanned multiple decades, with her work exploring the whole of ocean life from the shores to the depths. Carson's writing was also influenced by her work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and her collaborations with other notable conservationists. She is known for her work on the importance of marine conservation and the harmful effects of synthetic pesticides.
